A Diamond In The North: A History of Scouting Adventure in the North Country, 1923-98 by Gene Felton
The book "A Diamond in the North" tells the story of Northern Tier High Adventure, the Boy Scouts of America’s oldest national high adventure program founded in 1923. It covers the rich tradition of Scouting and wilderness canoeing at Northern Tier’s Charles L. Sommers Wilderness Canoe Base. The history begins with the launch of the first trips from Winton, Minnesota. Later the lodge gets built, the Canadian program created, and the food and gear are adapted.
