Association Membership

Become a member of the Charles L. Sommers Alumni Association (SAA). Membership to the association is open to everyone. Regular membership is available to current and former staff members. Past advisors and any adult who wishes to maintain a relationship with the Northern Tier program may become an "affiliate" member.

What are the benefits of being a member of the Charles L. Sommers Alumni Association (SAA)?

• Receive Reflections newsletter three times a year.
• Biennial Reunions over Labor Day weekend.
• Reduced rates for equipment rental from Northern Tier (subject to availability, crews are given priority).
• Opportunity to participate in programs such as the SAA/Philmont Staff Association treks and Minnesota and New Mexico.

Can you explain the different membership options?

Type

• Regular membership is for current and former staff.
• Affiliate membership is available to advisors and any adult who wishes to maintain a relationship with the Northern Tier program. Affiliate members do not vote on membership business nor hold office.

Level of Support

• Annual dues are $10 ($5 for current staff) which we think is a good deal.
• Sustaining dues are $25, this simply provides the SAA with more revenue to accomplish our mission.
• Life membership dues are $150 which saves members money in the long run and is more convenient than sending in dues each year.
